Race 7 Harworth Series: 12-06-08

On the first race in the series on the Harworth circuit, the handicap worked well with the whole field coming together and forming an extended line as they approached the line. Unfortunately for the scratch group, this proved to be just too late to reach the front and overtake the leaders. Richard Lindsay (www.wilsoncycles.co.uk) sprinted to a 2 length victory ahead of Alex Wallis (Doncaster Wheelers) and David Beresford (Norton Wheelers).

Race 7 Finish:

Race 8 Harworth Series: 19-06-08

Windy conditions made it tough for the second race of the Harworth series. The longmarker group riding one lap less than the rest of the field was reduced to just 2 riders after their first lap but Penny Rowson (Team Chance) and Joanna Blackburn (South Elmsall CC) took full advantage of their handicap to hold off the rest of the field at the finish where Rowson just beat Blackburn by a length. The scratch group had reeled in all the other groups but a slower penultimate lap cost them dearly as they finished just 5 seconds behind the leading duo.

Race 8 Finish:

Race 9 Harworth Series: 26-06-08

A dull evening with heavy rain reduced the field to just 36 brave riders who competed over a reduced race distance of 24 miles. The three handicap groups came together with 6 miles remaining and in the bunch sprint, Dave Furniss (Doncaster Wheelers) was a clear winner with a fast closing Graham Waller (Sheffrec CC) 2nd and junior Jamie Raven (Rutland CC) 3rd. The win puts Furniss into 2nd place in the Overall Series.

Race 10 Harworth Series: 03-07-08

Windy conditions appeared to favour the scratch group which had overhauled the rest of the field with 8 miles still remaining. A long early sprint by Matthew Hartley (Sheffield Sports CC) was succesful and he crossed the line a length clear of Dave Pratt (Beighton Wheelers) and Lee Allen (Dinnington RC/Universal-Auditoria).

Race 10 Finish:

Race 11 Harworth Series: 10-07-08

Joanna Blackburn (South Elmsall CC) improving on previous performances, took full advantage of a reduced distance handicap to stay ahead for the whole race. Mostly with Neil Freer (www.wilsoncycles.co.uk), she eventually finished alone to win some 40 seconds ahead of the rest of a complacent field which had finally merged with 3 miles remaining.

In the sprint for 2nd place Chris Pritchard (Stealth RT/Chris Last Sports Massage) was a length ahead of Lee Allen (Dinnington RC/Universal-Auditoria) with Overall Series leader Marc Etches (Sheffrec CC) in 4th place.

Race 11 Finish:

Race 12 Harworth Series: 17-07-08

High winds produced difficult conditions which slowed the whole field with all the handicap groups staying apart for virtually the whole race. Only the front 2 longmarker groups merged on the final lap with Peter Wood (Sheffrec CC) an easy winner of the sprint from Jamie Raven (Rutland CC) and John Downing (Dinnington RC/Universal-Auditoria).

The NMRRL now moves onto the final series of 6 races on the Stainton circuit.
