NORTH MIDLANDS SATURDAY LEAGUE
START: On Old Mill Lane, Cuckney (see map).
PROCEED and almost immediately turn left (CARE) onto A616 Budby Road and continue for 3.1 miles. At Budby turn sharp left at roundabout (CARE) onto B6034 toward Worksop and proceed for 1.5 miles. At Carburton crossroads (CARE) turn left onto minor road in the direction of Norton for 2.4 miles. Please ride carefully on this road and give sufficient room to any horse riders as you pass by silently. Continue past finish and through Norton and complete 7.5 mile circuit at Cuckney.
FINISH: On minor road between Carburton and Norton 50 yards before private driveway leading to Hatfield Grange in Norton village. GREAT CARE is needed on the last left hand bend 400 metres before the finish. See map for further details (5 laps = 37.5 miles)
The fastest lap recorded is reported to be 17 mins 36 secs. A junior in a lone break consistently lapped at under 18 minutes. The winning time for a club time trials around the circuit in 2009 was 19m.34s.
Riders and spectators should assist the flow of traffic by parking well off the course and where it causes least inconvenience. Please help us by keeping your children and pets under control, particularly in the FINISH area.
Following cars are not allowed and contra flow cars are discouraged as roads on some parts of the circuit are very narrow.
Cuckney and Norton are well kept villages of which the residents are justly proud. Please respect them and do not leave litter. We wish to thank all residents around the circuit for their cooperation in making these events possible and to apologise for any minor inconvenience we may cause eg by any slight delay at times but hope that this will be somewhat compensated for by having a grandstand view of road racing as a live spectacle instead of on TV.
Riders must obey all TLI Rules of Racing and Road Traffic Acts by riding sensibly and with due regard to other road users throughout the event and at every point on the course. Remember that although you know what you are doing it is possible that some others around you may not. Riders, Marshals and Support Staff’s attention is drawn to the Risk Assessment for the Carbuton circuit a copy of which is available on www.nmrrl.org.uk <http://www.nmrrl.org.uk/> .
The Race Controller Safety Officer particularly draws the attention of all riders to the need to keep to the left hand side of the road at all times and particularly:
• When turning left by negotiating Budby roundabout,
• Riding through two bends in the woodland adjacent to Carburton lakes and Nightingale Plantation where the road can be dark and narrow.
• Riding round the last bend before the finish,
• Riding through Norton village, and
• Riding past Old Mill Lane.
Whether the Police continue to let us use this circuit depends on the standard of riding. Please ride safely, on the left hand side of the road and show due consideration to all other road users. Riders not complying with this request will have points deducted form their league position and persistent offenders will be disqualified by the Race Controller / Safety Officer
Good luck and safe riding for an enjoyable afternoon’s sport
