Race 1 Torworth Series: 1-05-08

The first race of the 2008 NMRRL, on a new circuit based on Torworth, produced high speeds with the handicap eliminated and the whole field together with 8 miles remaining.

The result was a close fought bunch sprint with Charles Tennick (Stealth RT/Chris Last Sports Massage) a clear winner on the line with Robert Blackburn (Newark Castle CC) edging out Lee Allen (Dinnington RC) by inches for 2nd place.

Race 1 Finish:

Race 2 Torworth Series: 8-05-08

With 2 laps remaining (10 miles), the handicap times appeared well on schedule for all the groups to come together  on the run into the line. However, the front two groups having just merged went on to record their quickest lap times to stay away and finish some 20 seconds ahead of the scratch group.

Simon Jackson (Sheffrec CC) was a clear winner in the final sprint, 2 lengths ahead of Ian Ellison (South Elmsall CC) and Peter Hennessey (Beighton Wheelers).

Race 2 Finish:

Race 3 Torworth Series: 15-05-08

The longmarker group showed their intention from the first lap with their fastest time of the series so far which they maintained throughout and, as a result, stayed ahead until just 2 miles to go.

An accelerating scratch group finally caught them and in the ensuing bunch sprint Charles Tennick (Stealth RT/Chris Last Sports Massage) was a clear winner from Marc Etches (Sheffrec CC) and Dave Furniss (Doncaster Wheelers).

Race 3 Finish:

Race 4 Torworth Series: 22-05-08

On a cool, breezy, sunny evening the race handicap worked well with 4 groups only merging on the final lap. In the bunch sprint for the line, Graham Waller (Sheffrec CC) was first ahead of team mate Marc Etches with Tim Rowson (J E James RT) in 3rd place. Charles Tennick (Stealth RT/Chris Last Sports Massage) leads the overall series.

Race 4 Finish:

Race 5 Torworth Series: 29-05-08

Heavy rain throughout the race slowed the riders and the whole field came together with over 6 miles remaining. Approaching the finish Tim Rowson (J E James RT) rode clear and remained ahead to finish clear of a tightly fought sprint where Marc Etches (Sheffrec CC) finished just ahead of Chris Pritchard (Stealth RT/Chris Last Sports Massage). However, after the event the race controller/commissaire disqualified Rowson for repeatedly dangerous riding previously in the race.

Race 5 Finish:

Race 6 Torworth Series: 05-06-08

After the heavy rain of last week, the last race on the Torworth circuit saw a return to warm, sunny and calm conditions which as a result produced the quickest lap times of the series so far from all the groups except that is for the scratch group who after a fast second lap faded away to produce their slowest laps of the series so far! In front of them the other groups merged with 2 miles remaining and in a tightly fought bunch sprint, Dave Furniss (Doncaster Wheelers) won ahead of Matthew Hartley (Sheffield Sports CC) and Nigel Smith (TLI).

The NMRRL now moves onto the Harworth circuit with Marc Etches (Sheffrec CC) leading the overall series by just one point from Charles Tennick (Stealth RT/Chris Last Sports Massage).

Race 6 Finish:
